Most of my work is hand built using a stoneware clay and sgraffito carving to decorate. I also throw some of my forms on the wheel and use a medium to high firing glaze.
My work is inspired by the lay of the land in which I grew up and now live in. I have always felt a sense of belonging to this place and it will always represent home for me. Through my work I explore this environment, its subtle movement and shifting, and my place in it. I often use myself, set into the landscape, as a narrative to express my connection to this place. I also use form to express, in a more abstract way, the qualities this landscape.
I graduated from the Crawford College of Art and Design with a degree in Ceramic Design (Hons.) Graduated CCAD in 2017. I completed a post grad internship residency in the Ceramic Department from September 2017 to June 2018. From July to September 2018 I was awarded a Studio traineeship in the International Ceramic Studios in Kecskemet, Hungary. I am currently working from my own studio in Whitechurch, Co. Cork
